| On behalf of myself and the Holy Land Trust team, we would like to give our deepest condolences to the Al Zubaidi family for the loss of their beloved father. Adnan Al Zubaidi was a close friend to all of us and a great supporter of the Holy Land Trust. May he rest in peace, Sami Awad |

One of Bethlehem’s prominent artists has died after a battle with cancer. Painter and sculptor Adnan Al Zubaidi will be buried in the south-central West Bank city after noon prayers on Thursday.
Co-founder of the Association of Sculpture in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Al Zubaidi ran an artists cooperative in Jerusalem with colleagues and taught art in Bethlehem. Much of his work reflects the reality in which he lived, under occupation and the resistance to it. Israeli forces shut down several of his exhibits over the years.
The 55 year old began painting and sculpting as a child and went on to study in Beirut. Al Zubaidi’s work has been shown locally and throughout the world, including Japan, Italy, China, Sweden and Tunisia. He holds a medal from Norway.
Described by colleagues today as a “fighter against Israeli occupation and a solid defender of human dignity and the homeland,” Al Zubaidi is survived by his wife and four children.
